Weekly API Performance Report

weekly api performance

This week, we’re looking at the API performance foibles of RingCentral, OBIE, Yorkshire Building Society, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Energy.

How do we do it, you ask? Well, let us introduce you to the APImetrics API Directory.

In today’s digital landscape, APIs play a crucial role in enabling organizations to exchange information and provide value-added services. As the demand for API-driven solutions grows, the need for a comprehensive and reliable resource to evaluate and compare API performance becomes increasingly important. The APImetrics API Ratings Directory is a game-changing platform that addresses this need, offering valuable insights for both API providers and consumers.

Ring Central API performance

RingCentral in the Corporate Messaging collection decreased by 12% from 9.42 (in the Green Zone) to 8.27 (in the Green Zone). This was due to a large increase in outliers affecting their Send Message Via Sandbox Account Number Endpoint, resulting in an affective pass rate of only 30.4%.

OBIE Directory API performance

OBIE Directory in the Open Banking UK Production collection decreased by 12% from 8.23 (in the Green Zone) to 7.24 (in the Yellow Zone). This was due to a general increase in the server processing time affecting most monitored endpoints. There was also a notable increase in outlier rate and standard deviation at the same time.

Yorkshire Building Society API performance

Yorkshire Building Society in the Open Banking UK Production collection decreased by 15% from 6.82 (in the Yellow Zone) to 5.78 (in the Red Zone). This was due to a general increase in the outlier rate as the week progressed, as well as a number of failures that returned HTTP 503 errors. Notably, on the pictured endpoint, there were failures in the early morning each day throughout the week.

The Latest in US Government API Performance Failures

DOE API performance

We just keep seeing API performance failure after failure. Dept of Energy in the US Government collection was in the Red Zone with a CASC score of 3.42. This is simply a continuation of the poor performance that began on the 25th of March, over a month ago.

Dept of Commerce API performance

Dept of Commerce in the US Government collection was in the Red Zone with a CASC score of 5.18. This is an increase on last week, but is due to the high number of outliers seen at the start of the week, combined with a very slow latency.
