We don't know how else to tell you that API performance is everything. But just the same, here's a stat that will blow your mind: $92 billion is lost each year to poor API performance. Yes, billion with a B. You can find out more from our latest infographic.
In the meantime, let's get into who messed up their API performance this week.

ZB.com in the Exchanges collection decreased by 22% from 9.28 (in the Green Zone) to 7.2 (in the Yellow Zone).
This was due to an outage on the 29th affecting all monitored endpoints for around 5 hours. This saw the endpoints return HTTP 522 (an unofficial Cloudflare status code for a connection timeout). 
Coincheck in the Exchanges collection decreased by 16% from 9.34 (in the Green Zone) to 7.8 (in the Yellow Zone).
This was due to a cluster of HTTP 503 failures on the 30th of August affecting around half of their monitored endpoints for a few hours. 
Liquid in the Exchanges collection decreased by 19% from 8.28 (in the Green Zone) to 6.66 (in the Yellow Zone).
This was due to a large number of outliers throughout the week, combined with an outage on the 3rd of September which saw HTTP 530 responses (another unofficial Cloudflare response indicating the site is frozen). 
Dept of Housing and Urban Development in the US Government collection decreased by 17% from 9.44 (in the Green Zone) to 7.8 (in the Yellow Zone).
This was due to a large spike in processing time affecting their 1 monitored endpoint in the afternoon of the 28th between around 14:00 UTC and 21:00 UTC.
Dept of Energy in the US Government collection was in the Red Zone with a CASC score of 3.25.
Just as we thought they were getting better. Their outlier rate increased near the end of the week and overall has increased by 1.14% points to 23.4%.
More API Performance Highlights
- Revolut in the Open Banking UK Production category takes the overall title for best API again this week with a CASC score of 9.79, down from 9.82 last week.
- Contentful in the GGV Capital API-First category is the fastest API again this week with an average latency of 49 ms, the same as last week.
- Monzo Bank is the best-performing bank in the Open Banking UK Production category with monitored AISP (non-consent) endpoints again this week with a CASC score of 9.19, down from 9.42 last week.
- Dept of Energy in the US Government category is the overall worst performing API again this week with a CASC score of 3.25, down from 3.82 last week.
- 8 categories are topped by an API with a CASC score of 9.50 or more, up from 6 last week.
- 15 categories are topped by an API with a CASC score of 9.00 or more, the same as last week.
- 1 categories have bottom API with a CASC score of 9.00 or more, down from 2 last week.
- 5 categories have bottom API with a CASC score of 8.00 or more, down from 15 last week.
- 2 APIs (Cater Allen Private Bank in the Open Banking UK Production collection with a CASC score of 4.19, Dept of Energy in the US Government collection with a CASC score of 3.25) are in the Red Zone with a CASC score of less than 6.00 this week, down from 3 last week.
