API Performance: Weekly Highlights

api performance

Guys, you’re never gonna believe it – the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce are still down in the API performance dumps. We’ve got some other usual suspects, too. Let’s get into it.

us departmet of commerce api performance

First up is the Department of Commerce. They’re still in the Red Zone with a CASC score of 3.53. This was due to a large number of outliers early in the week, as well as a partial outage on the 4th of June which saw HTTP 504 Gateway Timeout errors returned.

us department of energy api performance

Could this be a silver lining? Dept of Energy in the US Government collection was in the Red Zone with a CASC score of 3.4.

What can we say at this point? They are doing better, sort of. Their outlier rate is now at 40.8%, down 10.63% points from last week. Maybe they are finally fixing their stuff???

square api performance

Yes, this is a sandbox. But Square (Sandbox) in the Fintech collection was in the Red Zone with a CASC score of 5.0. This was due to a large jump in latency affecting all monitored endpoints except the delete customer endpoint. The incident began 18:00 UTC on the 31st of May and recovered around 18:00 UTC on the 1st of June. Latencies rose from around 700ms to just under 5000ms.

finicity api performance

Another bruising API performance last week was from Finicity in the Fintech collection, which was in the Red Zone with a CASC score of 5.87. This was due to repeating clusters of outliers throughout the week as well as a number of timeouts. This affected a number of their monitored endpoints, the worst affected (pictured) dropped its CASC score by 83%. YIKES.

belvo api performance

Belvo in the GGV Capital API-First collection decreased by 10% from 8.06 (in the Green Zone) to 7.25 (in the Yellow Zone). Since around the 20th May latency has been steadily rising to over 2000ms. There have also been a scattering of failures throughout the week including HTTP 500 Internal Server Error,  HTTP 502 Bad gateway errors, HTTP 522 Connection Timed Out (Cloudflare non-standard code). They didn’t know what to call it!

yorkshire building society api performance

Yorkshire Building Society in the Open Banking UK Production collection decreased by 10% from 7.66 (in the Yellow Zone) to 6.88 (in the Yellow Zone). This was due to a large number of failures on the 4th of June from midday to the early evening. This saw responses including HTTP 502, HTTP 503 and HTTP 504. No refence was made in OBIE to this being planned.
